Just realized my USB 3.0 ports are all slow because of a bad driver I ignored for months

I finally got around to testing my external drive speeds after noticing file transfers crawling along at 30 MB/s. Turns out the generic Windows driver was throttling everything, swapping it for the chipset manufacturer's driver got me back to 200 MB/s. Has anyone else found a sneaky bottleneck from driver versions that look fine but aren't?

Did you check if Windows Update snuck in a generic driver after the swap?

Yeah that's actually more of an NVidia thing with their Game Ready drivers... Windows Update usually just pushes the basic Microsoft ones for AMD cards.
