Old guy in a small shop taught me more in 10 minutes than a year of YouTube
I was fixing a busted power supply in a repair shop in Akron back in 2017, and this elderly technician walked over. He pointed at the bulging caps and just said "you're not fixing the real problem if you don't check the traces underneath." I never thought to look that close before and it saved me on three jobs that same month. Has anyone else had a random pro drop a trick that changed how you work?

That old guy's tip about checking traces is a good one. It's crazy how something so simple gets overlooked when you're chasing the obvious problem. The real pros know it's always the little hidden stuff that bites you... like cold solder joints that look fine but crack under heat or vibration. YouTube has a lot of good info but it can't walk over and point at the exact spot on your board. Those tiny bits of wisdom from someone who's been doing it for decades are worth more than a thousand videos.

Yeah totally with you @ryan_barnes. Nothing replaces having someone stand there and point at the exact thing.
