Rant: I used to trust thermal paste spread methods from YouTube gurus.
Back in 2021 I would always do the credit card spread technique for CPUs, but after 3 overheating crashes on a customer's Ryzen build I switched to a pea-sized dot. Now I just do that every time and temps dropped 8C on average - has anyone else had a bad experience following those fancy tutorials?

8C is a lot. Makes me wonder if you were putting way too much paste on before. People get weird about this stuff like it's rocket science. A pea dot works fine. Has worked for years. The credit card method is just for show. Too much paste is worse than too little.

@victor779 did you try the pea dot after the credit card method and notice a difference?
