The 'just roll back the driver' advice that cost me 6 hours in Dallas
My senior tech told me to always roll back to the previous driver instead of hunting for the latest one, and for a while it worked great. Then last Tuesday I rolled back a NIC driver on a Dell OptiPlex and it completely killed the ethernet, no joke, had to boot into safe mode to fix it. So are we blindly trusting old rules of thumb, or is there a method to decide when to actually update versus roll back, has anyone else gotten burned by 'classic' advice?

Six hours in Dallas over a NIC driver? That's brutal, man. Safe mode just to undo a "simple" rollback is exactly the kind of nightmare that makes you question every old rule.
