Vent: My first repair job was on a machine with a CRT monitor, and now everything's flat screens.
It's weird how fixing computers went from swapping physical parts to mostly troubleshooting software updates.

My uncle still has a dot matrix printer, and the sound is wild compared to today's quiet ones, lmao.

Wonder what he still uses it for, like does it actually serve a purpose or is it just a loud nostalgia piece? That sound is such a specific kind of chaos compared to the boring hum of a modern printer. Is it the satisfying physical punch of the paper that keeps it around, or just refusing to let a working thing die?

Actually, those old machines have their perks! Swapping out a blown capacitor on a CRT feels more hands-on than just updating drivers. @jackson.faith is right about the sound, but dot matrix printers still work for receipts or forms that need carbon copies. They're built to last, not just for nostalgia!

Oh man, tell me about it. I miss the clunk and whir of real parts. Now it's all just error codes and waiting for a download to finish.
