Am I the only one who used too much water in their mix for years?

I always thought a wetter mix was easier to work with until I saw my driveway cracking after 2 winters. A guy named Frank pointed out my water ratio was off by like half a gallon per bag - that's what tipped me off. Anyone else have a 'duh' moment about something basic like this?

Did Frank also tell you that driveway's not a swimming pool? At least you found out before the whole thing turned into a gravel pit.

It's funny how people think water just vanishes into thin air until they actually have to deal with drainage. There's always a Franks in every neighborhood who's seen it all before. @lilyp37 you probably saved yourself a real headache catching it early.

Frank's probably been through three floods himself and knows every shortcut in the book. Catching it early means you can tamp down a low spot or dig a quick trench before the rain really sets in. People don't realize how fast water can wash out a whole foundation once it gets going. A little gravel and some elbow grease now beats a busted driveway later. Glad you listened to the old timer before it turned into a swamp.
