An old timer told me I was burning my cream too fast on a flat job in Nashville last month
He said I was moving the float too quick and not letting the cream set right. I changed my approach and slowed way down, and the finish came out smoother than anything I've done before. Has anyone else had a random bystander give you a tip that actually worked?

Picked up the same trick from an old guy in Memphis and it saved my whole job.

Slow down is the worst advice for cream work, it just makes the whole mess tacky and drag.

Did you try going faster or just blaming the pace?

Did you try adjusting your angle at all? For me, switching to a shallower approach on the cream coat made the biggest difference, it just laid down smoother without fighting me.
