Can we talk about how slab curing changed on me after switching to wet burlap
I used to just spray cure on my slabs in Phoenix and they came out fine, but on a 105 degree day last August I tried wet burlap and plastic for a 30x40 driveway. The slabs had way less surface cracking and looked better after 7 days versus the spray cure stuff. Any of you guys swear by one method over the other for hot weather pours?

Buddy of mine out in Mesa tried the wet burlap trick last summer on his own patio pour. Couple days in he forgot to keep it damp and came back to find the plastic had baked onto the concrete like a fried egg. Took him hours to peel it off and the surface looked patchy where the burlap stuck. He went back to spray cure after that, says the burlap method is too fussy for guys who aren't checking it every few hours in that heat.

My cousin tried that same burlap trick on a walkway he was pouring up in Oregon where it's supposed to be damp all the time. Left town for a long weekend and came back to find the neighborhood squirrels had shredded the burlap into a nest and the plastic blew into the neighbor's yard. Whole slab cracked in a zigzag pattern like a lightning bolt. He just painted over it with gray porch paint and calls it a feature now.

I mean, spray cure actually traps moisture different than burlap so it's not really the same thing.
