Just saw a stat that a bad concrete mix can lose over 30% of its strength
Found it in a study from a university lab, and it made me double-check every batch sheet now. Has anyone else run into a supplier giving you a weak mix recently?

Yeah, that "bad concrete mix" line got me too. I used to trust the specs, but after seeing what happened to kim.sarah's crew last year, I check everything now.

That study is interesting but feels a bit off. Danielnelson, I get the worry, but in my experience, a truly bad batch that loses that much strength is super rare if you're using a decent supplier. Most of the time, the real problem is on-site handling, like adding too much water or poor curing. Seen way more issues from rushed finishing in hot weather than from the plant itself.

Bought a load of ready mix for a friend's backyard slab last summer. Plant ticket looked perfect, 4000 psi mix, but the stuff came out soupy and the finishers just kept throwing water on it. We had to pour it anyway because the pump truck was already there and the foreman was screaming about the schedule. Three weeks later, that slab was dusting like a chalkboard. Ended up having to tear it out and redo the whole thing out of pocket. So yeah, sometimes the batch is just bad, even from a big name supplier.
