My old finishing trowel finally gave out mid-pour

Been using the same trowel since I started out in Tulsa in 2009, and last Tuesday it snapped right in the middle of a garage slab. Had to grab a spare from the truck and finish the job with a different feel, took me an extra 45 minutes to get the surface right. Anyone else ever have a favorite tool fail at the worst possible time and have to adjust on the fly?
