PSA: I switched from a wood float to a magnesium float on a 12 yard pour in Phoenix and I'm still not sure I made the right call
Back in 2019 I was finishing a driveway slab in Phoenix and my old wood float was warping on me every summer, so I grabbed a magnesium float instead. It pulled the cream up way faster and my arms didn't feel like noodles after 12 yards, but I noticed the surface set a little quicker too and I had to hustle my butt off on the edges. The old timers on that crew swore by wood and gave me grief for a solid month. Now I keep both in the truck but I reach for the mag more often, though I still miss how forgiving the wood was on hot days. Anyone here made that switch and gone back, or do you just run both depending on the weather?
