Rant: I wasted $150 on fancy form release oil that hurt my slab

Last fall I decided to try some high-end soybean-based form release oil. Paid about $150 for a 5 gallon bucket from a specialty supplier. First pour with it looked fine but then the next day I saw these weird blotchy spots all over the surface. Turns out it was reacting with the concrete mix and causing discoloration. Had to grind down the whole driveway and redo it, which cost me like two extra days and a bunch of lost time. The regular cheap stuff from the hardware store never gave me any trouble before. Has anyone else tried these fancy alternatives and had them backfire?

Did you wait long enough for the soybean oil to cure before pouring?

Did you let it cure long enough before you poured... sometimes those soybean oils need more time to break down or they'll mess with the surface.

Well @nathan901, I guess patience isn't just a virtue for us roofers either.
