Saw a crew in Phoenix pour wet slabs at 6am. Changed my whole morning routine.

They were done by 10 before the heat kicked in and the finish came out glass smooth. Has anyone else switched to early starts for flatwork in summer?

Glass smooth finish" is what got my buddy Tom. He normally rolled in at 8 but tried a 5am start on a driveway last June. By 9 he was done and the concrete looked like a mirror. Only problem was his wife called him three times thinking he was lost somewhere. Now he wakes up at 4 all summer and blames that one perfect pour for ruining his sleep schedule.

Bet Tom's wife is ready to kill whoever invented coffee makers with timers.
