That time a site super told me to stop using a jitterbug on approach slabs

Worked a job in Austin last fall and the super said my jitterbug finish was leaving too deep of a texture for a warehouse floor. He basically made me switch to a bull float only and it felt wrong at first. Anyone else get told to ditch the jitterbug on certain pours?

Too deep of a texture for a warehouse floor" ... that's wild to me. A jitterbug is literally the tool for the job on approach slabs, it knocks down the agg and seals the surface so you don't get a rough, grabby finish that tears up forklift tires. I've seen supers ask for a lighter pass or a wetter mix but never a total ban on the bug... that just sounds like asking for a headache later on.

Started getting that nonsense back when I was framing houses in the 90s. Had a super who wouldn't let me use a jitterbug at all on any approach slab, said it "looked amateur." I just did it anyway when he wasn't looking.

Yeah but my jitterbug technique looks so bad the concrete probably fired me anyway
