Vent: That fancy $400 power trowel everyone raves about left me with a ruined patio
Bought the popular model last spring after 15 years of hand finishing, and the blade system locked up on me halfway through a 600-square-foot pour in Austin, had to rent a grinder to fix the mess before it set, anyone else ditched the expensive gear and gone back to basics?

You ever think these companies just slap a premium price on stuff that's basically a prototype?

Bigger issue is people not reading the manual or dialing in the settings before a big pour. Same with the laser screed problem @iris927 had, probably sat on a jobsite for a month without checking the calibration. Good tools work great when you treat them right, but most guys just want to plug and play without the setup work.

Poured a slab last summer with a fancy laser screed that kept losing calibration. Ended up dragging a 2x4 across the whole thing just to get it flat enough.
