Who actually checks their expansion joints before pouring?
Watched a crew pour a 4,000 sq ft slab downtown last week and nobody bothered to look at the joint spacing until after the truck showed up. Foreman just said "we'll cut it later" like that fixes everything. How many times have you seen control joints crack wrong because someone rushed the layout?

Man that story about Bill hits close to home. Seen the same thing happen with a driveway pour last summer where the ground wasn't even compacted right. Just gravel tossed in and wet down. Guy kept saying "it'll settle" while we're watching the forms bow out. Six months later there's a crack you could lose a quarter in. Control joints are the same deal - you skip the planning and you're just asking for trouble later.

Blows my mind how people skip the simple stuff then act surprised when it fails.

@dakotab93 reminds me of my buddy Bill. Redid his bathroom. Decided to skip the subfloor prep. Just laid tile right over the old stuff. Three months later. Cracks everywhere. He's standing there with a hammer going "how did this happen." Well Bill. You know how. That's all I'm saying.
