Halfway to 10,000 posts"... that's a lot of typing about conspiracies. But think about this for a second: why would the government fake the moon landing when they could just tell everyone the technology wasn't ready yet and avoid the whole mess. The cold war pressure to win was real, sure, but faking it would've been way more complicated than just doing it.

Michael's got a point. 40,000 people worked on Apollo, you can't keep that many quiet about a fake. And the Soviets would have loved to prove it was fake, they had spies everywhere.
