Picked the county records over the online database for a title search, bad idea

I had to choose between using the county clerk's online portal or going down to the courthouse in Denton to pull property history. I figured the physical files would be safer since a buddy told me the digital stuff misses older liens. Spent 4 hours there and the deed I needed was misfiled under the wrong plat number. Has anyone else had the digital records actually be more reliable than the paper trail?
