Pro tip: my brother swore the moon landing footage was faked, I took his word for 2 years

He showed me a grainy VHS and said shadows proved it was a studio set, so I believed him until I actually watched the raw NASA feed last month. The shadows line up fine when you account for the sun angle and the uneven ground, plus the dust kicks up exactly like it should in a vacuum. Anyone else get stuck trusting a family member's debunking before checking the original source yourself?

wait, are you me? my uncle did the exact same thing with the 9/11 truther videos, made me believe the whole 'jet fuel can't melt steel' thing for years until i actually sat down and read the NIST report. it's wild how much we trust people we love over actual facts, i mean i get it but still.

Man it's honestly scary how much of what we "know" is just whatever the loudest person in our life told us first. Same thing happened with me and politics, my dad swore up and down about something for years until I actually read the damn bill myself.
