That podcast about the moon landing footage being filmed in a studio got me thinking

I was listening to this guy on a late night show talk about how the shadows in the Apollo 11 photos don't line up right, and he had all these side by side comparisons. He claimed the flag waving meant there had to be wind where there wasn't supposed to be any. Has anyone actually dug into those original NASA tapes to see if the angles change or if it's just a camera trick?

the "flag waving" thing is probably the biggest misunderstanding in all of this. the flag actually had a horizontal rod sewn into the top to keep it extended, so when they planted it, the natural motion made it look like it was rippling in the wind. i've seen the nasa engineers explain in a documentary that the rod was partly broken during deployment, which made the flag look even more wobbly. the shadow stuff is also super explainable by the uneven lunar surface and the wide angle lens on their cameras. honestly, if you watch the raw footage from the lunar surface command module, the consistency in the lighting across all the missions is too thorough to be faked.

Wait wait wait... the flag is supposedly waving? I thought they had it on a wire frame to keep it stiff, that's crazy if it's actually rippling.
