The county assessor's office changed my tax bill after I sent one form

My property tax jumped 22% in Salem this year, so I dug up the homestead exemption paperwork nobody told me about. Six weeks after mailing it in, they cut the bill by $310. Has anyone else found these quiet exemptions actually work?

Man, that's exactly what happened with me last year. Just make sure you keep a copy of everything you send them, because they'll "lose" it once and you'll have to resend it.
