The moon landing argument at my uncle's barbecue last month

We were in his backyard in Phoenix, grilling burgers, when my cousin brought up the 1969 Apollo mission. He said he saw a documentary claiming the whole thing was filmed in a studio. My uncle, who worked on early satellite tech, pulled out an old photo of himself at Mission Control in '71. He pointed at the background equipment and said, 'You think we could fake that with 60s cameras?' It made me wonder how these debates even start when people who were there are still around. Has anyone else had a family member shut down a conspiracy theory with personal history?

My dad was a NASA engineer and he said the conspiracy theories just made his team laugh. They knew what they built.

Had a regular at the bar who swore the moon landing was fake. I just pulled up a high-res shot of the lunar module base still sitting there, left the phone on the counter. He stared at it for a full minute, then just ordered another beer. Sometimes the proof is right there, no speech needed.

Shutting it down with a photo is the best move, lol.

Honestly I used to over-explain everything in text. Saw someone else just drop a clear picture as a reply once and it totally shut down a dumb argument. Changed my whole outlook, a photo cuts through so much noise. Now it's my go-to move when words just won't get through.
