The neighbors' Ring camera pinged me for a 'package theft' at 3 AM - but I was asleep

I checked the footage and it showed a guy in a hoodie walking past my porch, not even touching anything. Now I'm wondering how many alerts are just false positives that freak people out for no reason. Has anyone else caught weird stuff on their own camera that doesn't add up?

oh markh85 i think you're right about turning it down but the issue is those settings don't really work the same for every camera, i had to mess with mine a bunch of times before it stopped flagging shadows but still caught actual people. it's kind of a pain tbh.

Man just turn down the motion sensitivity in the app settings, fixed it for me.

yeah but does turning it down actually stop the false alerts or does it just make it so you miss real stuff too? i messed with mine and now the porch light flickering at 2am still sets it off but my neighbor's dog could be getting into the trash and it won't trigger anything. feels like either way you're stuck. what level did you set yours to? i tried like halfway and it's still too jumpy.
