Can we talk about people who film vertical for YouTube when it's clearly meant for landscapes?

I watched a travel vlog yesterday where this guy shot the entire Grand Canyon in portrait mode and it literally looked like a brown stripe with no scale, why do creators still not understand aspect ratios matter for the subject?

@diana617 nailed it with that Twitter thing... portrait mode is fine for selfies and close up stuff but for something like the Grand Canyon? Come on now. I had almost the same experience with a video about the Scottish Highlands, the guy filmed everything vertical and you couldn't see the mountains at all, just this tiny sliver of green. It drives me crazy because you can literally see the potential of the shot is wasted, like why even bother going to these places if you're gonna film it like a mirror selfie. The whole point of a landscape is the wide view, the scale, the way your eyes move across it... portrait mode just kills all of that. I honestly think some creators just rely on whatever their phone defaults to and never question if it fits the content they're making.
