I keep seeing new creators buy a $400 mic before they fix their room echo
Tbh I think this is the biggest mistake in the content creator space right now and nobody talks about it. I started my channel in my apartment in Phoenix about a year and a half ago and my first videos sounded like I was recording inside a washing machine. I saved up $400 for a Shure mic thinking that was the fix, and it barely helped at all because my room was just bare walls and hard floors bouncing sound everywhere. What actually fixed it was $40 of moving blankets from Harbor Freight and a rug, and the difference was night and day on the very first test recording. The mic was picking up my voice fine the whole time, it was just also picking up the echo of my voice, which no expensive gear can remove after the fact. I see this over and over in creator groups, people asking which $300 mic to buy when their last upload literally has a bathroom reverb on it, and I want to tell them to hang a blanket first. Has anyone else noticed this pattern, and what cheap fix did you find that made a bigger difference than the gear upgrade?
