Just found out YouTube shorts are capped at 60fps even if you upload higher

I was editing a fast paced gaming clip last night and noticed my 120fps footage looked choppy after upload. Dug into the YouTube help pages and there it is, shorts get transcoded to a max of 60fps no matter what you throw at them. I had to re-render the whole thing at 60fps to avoid artifacts. Has anyone else run into this or found a workaround for smoother motion?

Man, I don't know man. Is this really that big of a deal? You're talking about a difference between 60 and 120fps on a phone screen that most people watch vertically with their thumb over half the frame. Like, are you actually watching gaming clips frame by frame to count the frames? I've uploaded plenty of fast action stuff at 60fps and it's fine. Nobody is out there noticing your missing frames unless you're sending it to a film festival. Seems like a lot of extra work for something that probably doesn't matter to 99.9% of viewers who just scroll past it in two seconds anyway.

Honestly, it's like everything's getting optimized for the lowest common denominator these days. Tbh I've been noticing it with music streaming too, where they compress the hell out of tracks so they sound fine on phone speakers but flat on nice headphones.

Is it just me or does this kind of stuff make you feel a little bummed out too? I mean, I put effort into making things look nice and it stinks knowing most people won't even notice the difference. It's like you're doing all this extra work for yourself and maybe five other people who care.
