The "collab for collab" spam in here is out of control

Last month I saw a post from a guy with 200 followers asking for a collab with someone who had 50k. He offered nothing but a shoutout on his story. I called him out and he said "it's how you grow bro." Are people actually falling for this garbage or is everyone just ignoring it?

Honestly, it's not always as bad as that example. In my experience, most people who do collab for collab are just starting out and don't know any better. Your mileage may vary, but I've seen some decent partnerships come out of it when both people actually share a real audience and offer something valuable. The guy with 200 followers asking for a 50k collab is just a clueless outlier.

Oh man, you totally get it. It's easy to focus on the bad examples, but most folks just haven't figured out the right approach yet. Glad to hear some of those partnerships actually turned out well.
