Took me 3 months to figure out why my videos were getting demonetized

Kept getting flagged for reused content. Checked everything, re-edited, changed thumbnails. Turned out it was because I was using the same 10 second intro clip in every video for like 2 years straight. Had to go back and trim it out of 47 videos. Has anyone else had YouTube flag something dumb like that?

Saw a post somewhere that even the YouTube algorithm can flag stuff like a single common sound effect if it appears in too many videos. @wesley_jones had the same thing with a music loop, which is honestly wild because who would think of that? I remember reading about one creator who had a 3 second transition animation that kept tripping the system across dozens of uploads. Crazy how the algorithm can be that picky about something so small while letting other stuff slide. Bet you felt like a detective finally cracking the case after trimming all that intro footage out.

Crazy how the algorithm can be that picky" is exactly what got me thinking, because I actually see it the other way. I don't think it's picky at all, I think it's just stupid and inconsistent, like it'll flag a common door creak but then let actual stolen content slide for months. @wesley_jones dealing with a year-old music loop proves my point, the thing has zero common sense and just looks for patterns without understanding context.

Saw a video from some YouTuber who had the same issue... they talked about how even a tiny repeated section can trigger the algorithm if it's been used across too many uploads. Took me a minute to realize mine was a background music loop I'd been running for over a year. Ended up having to replace the audio in like 30 videos to get monetization back.
