DAE have a total stranger at a Phoenix laundromat tell them to quit their job and feel weirdly grateful about it
About 2 years ago I was sitting in a laundromat on 7th Ave in Phoenix at like 11pm doing my sad single guy laundry, and this older lady next to me just started talking. She asked what I did and I said I worked overnight stocking at a warehouse and hated it but the pay was steady. She looked at me for a second and goes, "Steady is how people stay stuck." Then she told me she drove a school bus for 19 years, quit at 52, and now runs a little tamale stand on weekends and makes more than she ever did. I laughed it off, finished my laundry, and drove home. But that one line just sat in my head for a month straight. I put in my two weeks about 5 weeks later and picked up a gig at a bike shop that paid less at first. Two years out, I make about $9 more an hour and I don't dread waking up. Never got her name. Anyway, has anyone else had a random person drop one sentence on you that just rewired your whole brain?
