Dropped $180 on a "golf swing fix" app after one chat with a guy at the range, and it set my game back 3 months
So back in April I was at the range in Mesa and this older guy next to me starts chatting about my slice. He seemed like he knew his stuff, told me my grip was way off and that I should check out this app he used that gives you instant swing tips. I got all excited and paid the $180 for the year right there on my phone, thinking it was a small price for fixing a problem I'd had for years. Fast forward 3 months and I'm hitting worse than when I bought it. The app kept telling me to change something new every week and I never got good at any of it, just stacked a bunch of half-baked fixes on top of each other. My handicap went from 19 up to 23 and I finally realized the guy was probably just being nice, not actually diagnosing me. I cancelled it and went back to one lesson with a local pro who watched me hit 5 balls and fixed the actual issue in 20 minutes. Has anyone else gotten suckered by one of those swing apps after a random range conversation?
