Group therapy beat one-on-one sessions for me, and I fought it for years

I did individual counseling in Portland for almost 2 years and thought that was the only real way to work through stuff. Then my therapist suggested a weekly group and I went in with a bad attitude, figured I'd just listen. Turns out hearing other people say the exact thing I was too embarrassed to admit was way more powerful. The give and take, the back and forth, it hit different. Anyone else find group conversations more useful than private ones?

...and honestly my group was less about the talking and more about the snacks. This one guy always brought those weird veggie chips and we'd argue about them before anyone even said anything real. Took me three weeks to realize that chaos WAS the therapy.
