Honestly, a client in Nashville asked me why I was even there.
I was on a job site last year, about to start a full kitchen demo, when the homeowner just stopped me. He said, 'You seem good at breaking things, but what do you actually want to build?' Tbh, I had no real answer, I just took whatever work came. That one question made me sit down and finally start my own company focused on custom builds instead of just demolition. Has anyone else had a simple question completely reroute their career path?

I get the point, but maybe you're reading too much into a random comment. It was probably just small talk from a bored client, not some life changing moment. People say stuff like that all the time. You were already doing the work, so the idea to start a company had to be in your head already. That question was just a nudge, not the whole reason.

Exactly. That nudge is all it takes sometimes. The idea was already there, just needed someone to point at it.

Remember that time a stray comment made you totally rethink a project? It's wild how small things can shift your whole view.

My buddy's whole app started because his mom asked why his phone game couldn't do her grocery list.
