I finally replaced my cracked toilet tank after 8 months of ignoring it
It took a 5 a.m. flood on a Tuesday that soaked my whole bathroom floor to make me realize the $20 fix I kept putting off cost me $300 in damage, and now I’m wondering how many other small repairs have you all dragged out way longer than you should have?

Funny how small neglect always snowballs into a big expensive mess.

Hopped right on that same train last year with my shower handle... kept meaning to tighten the screw but figured it was fine. Then one morning I grabbed it and the whole thing snapped off in my hand, water spraying everywhere at 6am before work. Cost me a plumber $150 to replace the whole cartridge because the stripped screw wrecked everything inside. Now I just fix stuff the second it starts feeling loose.

That "it's fine" mindset is basically the tax we pay for being lazy, the universe always collects eventually with interest. It's wild how the same exact logic applies to everything from car maintenance to roof leaks, we just find out the hard way that small problems don't stay small.
