Just realized I wasn't really listening to my friends anymore
At a simple dinner last week, a buddy called me out for staring at my phone while they were talking. It made me see how often I do that, and how it shuts people out. I've put my phone in another room when someone comes over ever since.

Honestly I keep mine on me but just don't touch it, feels more like real discipline. Putting it away just hides the problem.

It's like we've all forgotten how to just be bored for a minute, you know? That constant need to fill every quiet second is what's really killing focus.

God, I'm so guilty of this... my attention span is basically a goldfish's at this point. I'll be looking right at someone and my brain is already three apps deep. Might have to steal that phone-in-another-room trick, for real.

It's a tough habit to break. My wife started leaving hers in the car when we go out, and it's made a real difference.
