My attempt to 'manifest' a parking spot in downtown Austin ended with a very confused security guard and a new life rule.

Wait, what exactly were you trying to manifest? (Because I'm picturing you just staring intently at a full lot.)

Haha exactly! I've totally done that, just willing a spot to open up. You get it, @jana_jones!

The parking lot at the Whole Foods on 5th Street last Saturday. I was running late and every single space was taken. I swear I just sat there for a full minute, mentally begging someone to leave. It felt like a weird mix of hope and pure desperation. Honestly, I'm not sure if my manifesting worked or if I just got lucky.

Kelly, I think it's worth noting that "manifesting" is a pretty big word for what you did. What you described is called "wishful thinking" and it's something most of us do when we're running late. There's nothing wrong with hoping for a parking spot, but labeling it as manifesting kind of gives it more credit than it deserves. The real reason you found a spot is that somebody eventually had to leave, and you just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
