My car battery died at 5am on a Tuesday and a stranger helped me jump it in the rain
He told me he'd been stranded the same way two years ago and now keeps cables in his trunk for everyone else, which made me realize I'd been ignoring little ways to help people out for way too long - has anyone else had a random favor completely change how you think about community?

Maybe it's just me but I'd probably lock my keys in the car while trying to help someone back.

Man @murphy.aaron is totally right honestly. One wrong move and you'd be standing there staring at your locked car holding a bag of groceries and a stranger's hand.

Yeah, that 'staring at your locked car holding a bag of groceries' part got me. I used to think it was overblown too. But last month I locked my keys in the trunk while helping my neighbor load a couch. Just one second of not thinking and bam, you're screwed.

Ha, fair point @murphy.aaron but I think most people would be a bit more cautious than that. You're probably overthinking how easy it is to lock yourself out in a simple situation like helping someone back up. It's not like you're juggling stuff or in a rush, you know?
