My sleep coach said to trash my alarms, and it fixed my tiredness

I was always dragging through afternoons, no matter how early I went to bed. In a check-up, my sleep coach asked about my wake-up routine. I told her I used two loud alarms every morning. She called this 'sleep robbery' and said it was breaking my natural cycle. She told me to try waking up without any alarms for just one week. I was nervous about being late, but I gave it a shot. After a few days, I started waking up on my own, feeling rested. Now I never use an alarm, and my energy is way better. That simple chat made me see how much we mess with our own health.

Sounds great if your job doesn't care when you roll in. My natural cycle would have me waking up at 10 am, desperately trying to brush my teeth in the car.

My buddy Nate actually tried the whole "natural cycle" thing last year. His boss was cool with it until he missed three morning meetings in a row. Now he's back to chugging coffee at 7 AM like the rest of us.

Trying to change your sleep schedule all at once just sets you up to fail. Start by waking up 15 minutes earlier each day until you hit your target time.

I mean wade_wood gets it, some jobs just don't let you live like that.
