Question about a talk with my dad that finally made me quit my old job

He asked me one simple thing over coffee, 'What's the best part of your day?', and I couldn't answer. That was about three years ago, and it took me a full month after that to actually hand in my notice. Anyone else have a moment like that where a question just broke everything open?

Wow, that's a heavy question. I get what you mean about it breaking things open, but for me it was the opposite. My boss asking "What's the worst part of your day?" is what finally did it.

That's a rough one, man. A simple question like that can really cut through all the noise you've been telling yourself. Good on you for having the guts to act on it, and @dakota415 is right about how those small moments from people you trust can point out the obvious you've been avoiding.

My friend Jake's "what's your dream job" chat, like @dakota415 said, changed everything.

My uncle Phil asked me a similar question last year. I agree with @knight.felix that the bad parts can be just as telling as the good. Sometimes you just need someone to point out the obvious.
