That time I paid $80 for a "life coaching" session and got told to buy a plant

I was going through a rough patch last June and dropped 80 bucks on a one-hour video call with this life coach I found online. She spent the first 20 minutes asking about my morning routine, then told me to buy a snake plant for my desk because it would "anchor my energy." I actually did it, mostly out of spite, and honestly that dumb plant kind of helped me remember to take breaks and breathe. The coaching part was bunk but the plant cost me $15, so now I just recommend people skip the coach and go straight to the nursery. Has anyone else had a weirdly practical lesson come from a total waste of money?

Ha, yeah, I think that's the trick with most self-help stuff. You end up just doing something small that actually changes your day, and the expensive advice was just the excuse.

Ever tried just making your bed first thing? It's the only self-help tip that actually stuck for me.

Heard this kind of thing a lot... like how sometimes the dumbest advice works just because you actually try it, not because it's any good.
