Found a note from my 2nd grade teacher in an old box last night
It was just a little sticky note she put on my desk that said "you asked a really smart question today" and I totally forgot about it until now. I was going through bins in my garage in Austin Texas around 11pm trying to find a tax document. The note was tucked inside an old spelling workbook from 1997. I sat there on the garage floor for like 10 minutes just staring at it. That teacher Mrs. Patterson made me feel like it was okay to be curious even when other kids laughed at my questions. Now I'm 34 and I still hesitate to speak up in meetings sometimes but finding that note made me want to be braver. Does anyone else have a random old school thing that still messes with your head in a good way?

But here's the thing nobody's talking about - what if that note was actually a message to your future self from your own brain. Like somewhere deep down you knew you'd need that reminder someday that's why you kept that spelling book all these years without even realizing it. Most of us probably tossed those things the second school ended but you didn't and that says something about how important Mrs. Patterson was to you even back then. I mean think about it you could have grabbed any other random book to stuff your tax stuff in but your hand picked that one. That's not just luck that's your gut looking out for you.

Found that note and now I'm wondering what other nice things I've completely forgotten about.
