Hot take: The carousel at the city fair broke down and I finally watched people instead of my phone

Sat on a bench for 45 minutes waiting for them to fix it and noticed every single adult was glued to their screens while the kids kept circling back to the broken ride, laughing at nothing. Has anyone else had a boring moment that made you realize how hard we avoid just sitting still?

Started carrying a small notebook in my purse after noticing the same thing at a coffee shop. Now when I'd normally scroll, I just scribble down whatever catches my eye - a weird outfit, a funny conversation snippet, even just the way the light hits the table. It's way more entertaining than any app and I actually remember stuff now.

Wait, were there seriously no parents watching the kids run around that broken ride? That's kind of wild to me. I mean I get it, phones suck us in, but 45 minutes without looking up once? A kid could have climbed the thing. It's funny how the kids didn't even care it was broken, they just found their own fun. That says a lot more about them than it does about the ride, honestly.
