I finally stopped ruining drill bits after a job in Phoenix last summer

I was drilling into a concrete wall to mount some shelving at a client's house in Phoenix. The bit kept getting hot and smoking so I just pushed harder until it snapped. Turned out the masonry bit was dull and I should have swapped it after 3 holes instead of trying to get 12 out of it. Now I keep a pack of cheap spares in my truck and change them out after every 5 holes. Anyone else learned this the hard way or just me?

Wait, 12 holes on one masonry bit? That's insanity. I've snapped them after 3 before, but 12 is just asking for it.

12 holes? I'd snap it just looking at it wrong.
