Just realized my grandpa's quiet comment in his workshop 25 years ago shaped my whole view on fixing things.
He watched me get mad and throw a broken toy, then said, 'Anger's a dull tool, Matt,' and that single sentence in his garage in Toledo made me approach every problem since, from lesson plans to leaky sinks, with patience instead of force, so what's a simple phrase someone said that completely flipped how you handle frustration?

My old boss told me "frustration is just information trying to get in." It changed everything. Now when something annoys me, I try to see it as a signal that I'm missing a piece of the puzzle. It forces me to look for what I don't know instead of just getting mad.

Oh great, so now I have to be grateful for my own frustration? Thanks for that, @ellis.faith. I guess next time my computer freezes I'll just calmly search for the "information trying to get in" instead of wanting to throw it out the window. It's a good line though, I'll try it before I start yelling at my printer.

That line about anger being a dull tool hits hard. My dad used to say "don't just do something, stand there" when I'd get all worked up. Sounded backwards at first, but he meant to stop and think before you react. It flipped a switch for me. Now when I'm about to blow my top, I force myself to pause for like ten seconds. It keeps me from making stupid choices I'll regret later.
