Just realized that memory from 4th grade was way more important than I thought

I always thought my strongest early memory was getting stung by a bee at recess in Mrs. Chen's class at Lincoln Elementary. Turns out what I actually remember is the look on her face when she knelt down to check on me - she was scared but trying to act calm. That moment taught me that adults don't always have it together, and now when my own kid gets hurt I focus on keeping my voice steady instead of panicking. Has anyone else dug into a childhood memory and found a hidden lesson in it?

Oh, that one hit close to home. I had a similar thing happen with my dad teaching me to ride a bike - I always thought it was about falling, but I realized later he was just as nervous as I was, trying to hide it. It's funny how those little moments end up shaping how we handle things as parents ourselves.

Tried the same approach with my own kid last summer @bennett.evan and it actually helped me chill out a bit too. I stopped trying to be the perfect teacher and just let myself be nervous with him, which made the whole thing way less tense. Turns out admitting you're scared too takes the pressure off both of you lol.
