My grandma's cornbread recipe vs the one I found online, and I'm honestly mad about it
Growing up in San Antonio my grandma always made cornbread in a cast iron skillet with bacon grease and no sugar, and I tried a sweet online recipe last Thanksgiving that tasted like cake. Anyone else have a family recipe that ruined all other versions for them?
Read somewhere that the sugar thing comes from northern cornbread while southern style skips it completely, so the online recipe wasn't really wrong, just a different thing. Still, bacon grease in a cast iron skillet is hard to beat, idk how anyone goes back after that.
