My grandpa said never buy the first truck you look at, and 9 years later I finally get why
When I was 17 my grandpa drove me to look at a 1998 F-150 in Springfield and I had $2,800 saved up from bagging groceries. He said never buy the first one you see, so we walked away and I was mad the entire ride home. I bought a different truck two weeks later for $2,600 that leaked oil from day one and ate a transmission by 130k miles. He passed away the next spring, so I never got to argue with him about it, which I still think about sometimes. About 4 years ago my cousin bought the very first Civic she test drove and it's still running fine at 210k, so his rule isn't exactly gospel either. I think what he really meant was slow down when you're excited, not that the first one is cursed. Curious if anyone else got a rule like that from a relative and later found out it was half right.
