Spent 4 hours trying to fix a leaky faucet in my apartment in Cleveland

I thought it would be a quick 20 minute job after watching a couple videos. Turns out the valve under the sink was stuck from years of hard water buildup. I ended up having to run to the hardware store twice because I stripped the old fitting and needed a new one. It took me about four hours total to get everything back together without leaking. I feel like I know the pipes under that sink better than I know my own car now. Has anyone else had a small fix turn into a whole day project?

Ugh forreal! It never fails, right? I started on a leaky faucet once thinking it was just a loose nut, three trips to the hardware store later I had basically rebuilt the entire sink. Why is it that the simplest thing always hides a bigger problem, like a cracked pipe or a stripped screw? Did you end up finding a whole new issue behind that "quick" fix you started?

Honestly I used to be one of those people who thought "oh it's just a quick fix, I'll have it done in an hour." Then I tried to replace a simple toilet flapper and ended up having to cut out and replace a whole section of rusted pipe behind the wall. Now I just assume any small job is gonna turn into a whole weekend project. It's like the house knows you're trying to do something simple and decides to throw a curveball every single time.
