Spent 4 years thinking I was bad at folding fitted sheets

Finally timed myself doing it after watching a youtube vid and it took like 15 seconds. I used to ball them up and stuff them in the linen closet like a monster. My wife laughed when I showed her but honestly it made me realize how much time I wasted being annoyed at something simple. Anyone else have a stupid basic skill that took way too long to figure out?

Right there with you on this, it's wild how we just accept being bad at small stuff without ever questioning it lol. I think there's this weird thing where we assume basic life chores should be instinctual so we never bother to check if there's a better way. Once you realize most things have a trick to them it's kind of liberating honestly, like you stop being mad at yourself and just go learn how to do it.

Forty years of folding fitted sheets wrong before I found out there's a diagram that makes it take ten seconds. That's what @diana512 is talking about, and it really does apply to everything. I noticed this same pattern with oven timers, where people just set them and wander off instead of using the memory function to save common temps. The trick is realizing most instruction manuals are written badly on purpose, so nobody reads them. Once you stop feeling dumb for not knowing the secret handshake for a toaster, life gets a lot easier.

LPT: watch the video on your phone while you do it the first time.
