The $200 garage sale treadmill that now holds my laundry
Bought a used treadmill off a guy in Cleveland for $200. Thought I'd run every morning. Total fantasy. It's been 8 months and I've used it maybe twice. But my wife and I argue about it weekly. She wants it gone, I keep saying I'll use it. My neighbor bought a new one for $1,200 and barely touches his either. So is the waste the money or the pretending we'll suddenly become runners? Has anyone actually kept up with a big purchase like this or are we all just storing stuff on it?

Wait, is it really a waste if you think about what that treadmill costs per month of potential motivation?
I mean, you paid $200, which is like 60 cents a day over the year you've owned it. That's cheaper than a gym membership you'd also skip. And honestly, the laundry rack thing is way more useful than the running thing. My buddy bought a $400 rower and uses it as a plant stand, but he says the plants make him feel less guilty than looking at an empty corner.
The real waste is buying new equipment. Your garage sale treadmill already did its job when you bought it, and now it's doing a different job. Folks pay $50 a month for therapy about their habits, and you got a workout machine that holds your clean shirts. That's a steal.
