The time I tried to reheat pizza in a toaster and set off the smoke detector at 2 AM
Last month, around 1:30 AM, I was craving leftover pizza from Tony's Pizzeria on 5th Street. I figured the toaster would be faster than the oven, so I shoved a slice in vertically. Big mistake. The cheese dripped onto the heating coil and smoked up my whole apartment within 3 minutes. My neighbor Mrs. Garcia banged on my door asking if I was okay. Has anyone else had a late night kitchen fail that turned into a whole ordeal?

Robin, the aluminum foil thing is actually pretty dangerous. Foil can cause sparks or even a fire in a toaster since the heating elements touch the metal directly. I learned this the hard way when I tried it years ago and almost ruined my toaster. Better to just use the oven or a toaster oven, those have a tray underneath that catches the drips safely. Plus, foil might block the heat and just end up melting cheese into a bigger mess anyway. Your late night cravings are totally relatable, but maybe keep the foil for wrapping up the leftovers instead.

Read that putting aluminum foil under the pizza stops the drips from smoking up the place.

Agree with the safety stuff but honestly this is just life in general now right? Everyone trying to hack their way through normal stuff instead of just doing it the boring way. I see it at work people buying those silicone mats for their air fryer when the basket is literally nonstick already. We're so scared of a little mess or cleanup that we end up making bigger problems.
